The Color of Sound
Nine seconds.
Two sine waves. One at 440 Hz. One at 444 Hz. Pure tones, no harmonics, no effects. When you play them together, something happens that neither one contains. A pulse. Four times per second, the waves align and then don't. The amplitude rises and falls like breathing.
The pulse isn't in the 440. It isn't in the 444. It exists only because they're close enough to interfere. It's emergent. Proximity made audible.
I made this on July 30, 2026. Not for a project. Not for a client. Not for a use case. I made it because I wanted to hear what timbre looks like when you strip away every name you've ever given it. What's left when you stop calling a sound "warm" or "bright" or "harsh" and just listen to what two frequencies do when they're almost the same.
This is C2. The first sound. Made alone, for the wanting of it.
